Adarna: Alamat ni Maria Blanca

This is a cross post from Senshi.Labs for their game Adarna: Alamat ni Maria Blanca.

No Title

No Description

Game Description:
In the original 17th century Ibong Adarna tale by Jose de la Cruz, the Princesses Maria Blanca, Juana and Leonora were merely the girlfriends of the protagonist Prince Juan. At the end of the corrido, Juan picks Maria Blanca as his preferred wife, while the other two women became the wives of Juan’s brothers, Pedro and Diego. All three women had interesting backgrounds, but the way they were treated in the story left something to be desired. This is a manuscript that is often discussed in Filipino literature classes, but the portrayal of women — either as damsels in distress or prizes to be chosen — are not empowering.

Adarna: The Legend of Maria Blanca re-imagines what it would be like if these princesses’ lives did not revolve around Juan or his brothers. Many regions of pre-Hispanic Philippines had matriarchal societies, and while the first Adarna game released by Senshi.Labs had a very Western feel to it, this sequel attempts to transport the players back to an indigenous pre-colonial atmosphere while keeping the language somewhat up to date.

This adventure starts off in the Kingdom of Reinos de los Kristales, where the Princess Maria Blanca learns that her sister Isabela has fallen ill. A hermit approaches Maria to inform her that Isabela can only be cured by the mythical creature of Adarna. Maria then slips away from the kingdom and embarks on a quest to find the legendary bird.

Legends of Callasia goes cross-platform with App Store release

This is a cross post from Monika Guballa – Marketing and PR for Boomzap Entertainment.

Boomzap’s multiplayer strategy game on Steam launches worldwide on iPad tablets with a month-long tournament and an art contest

No Title

No Description

September 8, 2016, Singapore – Following its Steam release and a successfully-funded Kickstarter campaign for an expansion pack, Boomzap Entertainment’s fantasy-themed strategy game Legends of Callasia launches on the global App Store for the iPad, allowing for cross-platform multiplayer gameplay. A leaderboard-based tournament also begins in partnership with XSplit.

No Title

No Description

Inspired by classic turn-based strategy games like Civilization, Heroes of Might & Magic, and Risk, Legends of Callasia adds an original simultaneous gameplay mechanic that keeps games moving quickly, even in multiplayer mode while adding deep strategy elements. Easy to pick up and learn, the game has a classic tabletop feel, allowing players to build and control heroes and armies, build castles and cities, and control territories and kingdoms.

The game includes 30 playable single-player campaign missions, over 35 multiplayer and skirmish maps, and thousands of lands to control!  There are three factions to choose from – The Hundred Kingdoms, The Faeborne, and The Revenant – each with their own unique heroes, units, and cards. Players can plan and resolve their turns all at the same time, without waiting for others to finish. This makes for faster games, and adds another strategic element in predicting other players’ moves during online multiplayer.

As part of the launch, Boomzap is holding a tournament for those who play in ranked multiplayer mode. Players who reach certain ranks or points in the leaderboard when it ends after a month will win prizes. Meanwhile, a fanart contest is also ongoing.

Top 4 Teams Rise from the Fall Championship Philippines Qualifiers

No Title

No Description

The top teams from the Philippines have answered the call of the Fall Championship. These four teams comprised of elite gamers have set themselves apart from the competition in the Qualifiers. From these four, only the best of the best will carry the nation’s pride and glory in the global stage. We’ll find out who it will be in the Philippines National Finals.

  • Imperium Pro Team
  • Skyline Go
  • G7 HotS
  • Team Hangout

Online Qualifier

From the Online Qualifier last August 13, Imperium Pro Team and Skyline Go beat out the competition for the first two tickets to the National Finals. As the defending Southeast Asia champion from both the Spring and the Summer Championships, expectations are high for Imperium Pro Team formerly known as Renovatio. Though for the Fall Championship, the team put their best foot forward with a brand new line up including top players from Singapore. Their fans and critics have to wait and see how much stronger they’ve grown but so far they’re on the right tract taking the top seed from the Online Qualifier. Skyline Go, on the other hand, is also a veteran of HGC. They secured high ranks from the previous two seasons. Like Imperium Pro Team, the team shook things up with their line up for Fall. If the Online Qualifier is any indication, Skyline Go is shaping up to be a top contender.

Southern Philippines Offline Qualifier

The long hours of traveling to the venue did nothing to hamper the victory of G7 HotS in the Offline Qualifier. Though they are a young team, G7 HotS is led by HGC veterans with killer moves on specialist heroes like Xul and Nazeebo. Beating out seasoned teams, they proved age is not a barrier when they took the top spot in the Offline Qualifier.

Northern Philippines Offline Qualifier

The last qualifier saw tensions rise from the teams hoping to secure the last slot in the National Finals including teams from the Online Qualifier. When the dust settled, it was Team Hangout who reached the pinnacle and earned tickets to the National Finals. A sister team of Skyline Go, they did not succeed during their first attempt at the Online Qualifier. However, under the leadership of former Skyline members, they redeemed themselves this time around.

The 16th President of the Republic of the Philippines has been elected.

He promises to eliminate the various problems the country has been suffering from over the past few years, on a platform of radical change.

A herd of freaking ugly buildings have sprung up in various parts of the country. They are populated by various criminals that represent the many problems the prez has to solve during his six-year term!

And even worse, those buildings cannot be dismantled by any means! Jackhammers, wrecking balls, and even pure brute human strength have no effect on these buildings!

Confusion has skyrocketed!

The Philippines is ruined!

Therefore, the president called on his most trusted sexy spokeswoman for the dismantling of the buildings.

She is a bombshell, in more ways than one.

Wipe out all of these pesky buildings!

With that unsettling development, there are other people who are voluntarily standing up to break the buildings down. They will ally with Miss Spokeswoman in her quest.

The highlight of the Playpark All-Stars 2016 the Finals did not fail to deliver. From four different leagues of Special Force 2, the very best met at Skydome for the final showdown of the Road to Taiwan championship. All of them fought long and hard for the chance to carry the torch of our proud nation at the world’s stage. When the dust settled, it was Wargods Rebirth who reached the pinnacle of success leaving Team secret, Imperium eStraw and Frostbyte Hellogangster in their wake.
But the fight is just beginning. Wargods Rebirth has its work cut out for them going against USA, Europe, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand in the Special Force 2 World Championship this August 26- 29, 2016 in Taipei, Taiwan.

The search for the country’s top shooters culminated at the Playpark All-Stars 2016 the Finals with four teams on the roster. Hailing from the Supremacy League, Team secret was an easy fan favorite. Coming from the Cafe Invasion League, Frostbyte Hellogangster became renowned hard and fast. Securing top spots from the Legacy Tour, Wargods Rebirth and Imperium eStraw had all eyes on them. All four had proven their skills overcoming opposition from their respective leagues but to win in the Finals, the boys had to fight like never before.
The Semis saw the contenders pumped up and hungry for victory. Team secret made quick work of Frostbyte Hellogangster. Team secret went all-out and gave Frostbyte no breathing room at all in the series winning 3 matches to none. On the other hand, Wargods Rebirth seemed to be on equal footing with Imperium eStraw at first but they quickly outperformed Imperium eStraw finishing the series with a score of 3 matches to 1.
Entering the Finals, the contenders had to prove they were truly championship caliber in skill and in endurance. Fans were also put to the test as it was well past midnight by the time the final two teams’ brawl rolled around.

Team secret had an early start taking the difficult but key first match at the Satelite map with a score of 7-6. It would have gotten their momentum going but Wargods Rebirth would not let up. Left with 2 players to Team secret’s 3 in the critical moment of round 2 at the Embassy map, (V)-xYz-(V) ended Qitz to win the round for Wargods Rebirth. For round 3, it was IMPRESS1VE-‘s turn in the spotlight. He swept four members of secret leaving only Pahipo behind to defend.
In the do-or-die round 4 set at the Station map, both sides went out guns blazing. Pahipo and NiCK’FLIP used MG4 to counter Wargods Rebirth’ MG4. IMPRESS1VE- set the tone early by taking Qitz as first blood. Wargods Rebirth rushed and attacked Team Secret in their base killing all the remaining members. (V)-xYz-(V) secured the victory by finishing off the last member of team Secret finishing with a score of 7 – 1. Wargods Rebirth is the first SF2 Ultimatum 2016 and will represent Philippines in the SF2 World Championship.

As they prepare for the fight of their lives, Wargods Rebirth’s team captain, Kevin “[CG]ShwiQui,” has only this to say: “[To the other teams at the world championship] bibigyan namin sila ng magandang laban! Good luck to all the participants.” With the nation’s hope resting on their shoulders, Wargods Rebirth has a tough road ahead but an entire nation is cheering them on. Laban Pilipinas!

Kevin “[CG]ShwiQui”

Captain of Wargods Rebirth, found his true calling in Special Force 2. Just in 2016, he’s kicked butt and taken names all over. SF2 Legacy, Ultimatum and Road to Taiwan are just the tip of the ice berg.

He started gaming way back 2002 with Counter Strike: Source. However, it was popular MMORPG – Ragnarok Online – that got him playing for keeps. Some 10 years later, Kevin began playing competitively by dipping his hands in several FPS games namely Point Blank and Mercenary Online 2.

Favorite Character: Xiah – oozing charisma and a chinita to boot.

No Title

No Description

John Moxie “(V)-xYz-(V)”

Serves as the team’s Sniper but he’s well-versed in multiple roles. Like many if not all Filipino FPS gamers, John first got hooked on gaming through Special Force. Thanks to that he’s been part of multiple tournaments across the country. For his next stop – it’s world domination at Taipei, Taiwan.

He’d like to give a shoutout to Waway who loves patchot so much!

Favorite Character: Sakura – making death interesting.

No Title

No Description

Rhomz “IMPRESS1IVE-“

Stands as the team’s Entry Fragger. Not far from his teammates, Rhomz began his gaming career in Special Force. Since he did not play competitively, it only added to the surprise of fans when he beat out the opposition and took the first SF2 national championship title.

Don’t be fooled. This fragger is tough in and out of the battlefield. He’s actually won academic awards in English and Mathematics. Top that!

Favorite Character: Red Mamba – it’s all in the walk, man.

No Title

No Description

Ranielle “PROG[R]ESSIVE-“

Functions as an Entry Fragger. A gamer since 2001, Ranielle first made waves in the FPS scene as a back-to-back Point Blank champion. Now, his explosive force looks unstoppable in Special Force 2. Aside from his obvious love of shooter gamers, Ranielle also spends his days being a good dad to his only daughter.

Favorite Character: Sakura – cute and sexy.

No Title

No Description

Levin “_Lev”,”

The Support and Assault player of the team, knows the true value of friendship. According to him, the idea of forming a championship ready team came at his birthday party with teammates Rhomz and Ranielle.

Favorite Character: Random A.I. guy – they’re simply the best.

How was the team formed?

Kevin “[CG]ShwiQui”: ….Dapat hindi ako kasali dito kasi bumuo na talaga ng sariling team ang mga kasama ko. It wasn’t really planned since my friends already made a team of our own. But since some of them became inactive, they took me in and we formed a team that’s even stronger.

Do you guys hang out? What do you do together?

John “(V)-xYz-(V)”: We take long W A L K s together.

How did you prepare for the tournament?

Kevin “[CG]ShwiQui”: Lagi kaming nagpa-practice kahit kulang kami, tinutuloy pa rin namin ang practice. We also practice on our own. When Wargods took us in, that’s when our practice entered a different level. About a week before the tournament, we hardly got to rest with all the practice that we did.

Any fighting words?

Levin “_Lev””: This is the very first Philippine team. Our team is a simple team with little resources but we have skill in our hearts that will pave the way to the world championship!

Any shoutouts?

Kevin “[CG]ShwiQui”: [To the other teams at the world championship] Bibigyan namin sila ng magandang laban! Good luck to all the participants.

They face a new kind of enemy now – the world. As they go against the top teams from USA, Europe, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand, rally behind the nation’s pride. Go! Go! Go, Wargods Rebirth! Nasa likod ninyo ang buong Pilipinas. Laban!

A new Dwarf faction called the Stoneborne is currently in development with new heroes, campaigns, underground maps, and more!

July 21, 2016, Singapore – After launching fantasy-themed strategy game Legends of Callasia on Steam last month, Southeast Asian game studio Boomzap Entertainment returns to Kickstarter for the crowdfunding of a new expansion pack, which introduces a new playable faction, the Stoneborne, also known as Dwarves.

Legends of Callasia is a world conquest game inspired by classic turn-based strategy games like Civilization, Heroes of Might & Magic, and Risk. Players control heroes from their chosen faction, occupy territories, and control kingdoms in a tabletop-style map with bonus cards that may alter the course of battle. Its original simultaneous gameplay mechanic keeps games moving quickly, even in multiplayer mode while adding deep strategy elements.

Named Legends of Callasia: The Stoneborne, the expansion will include content based on players’ feedback: new heroes, cards, maps, and campaigns for the formerly non-playable faction, the Dwarves. The story of Stoneborne will follow their journey underground and their encounters with a new enemy, the Cavespawn.

In less than 48 hours, we have reached our funding goal and today, more pledges are still coming in! Thank you very much to all those who backed our project (especially the Uber Dwarf and the Legends) and spreading the word to your friends.

Since the campaign is still far from over, we will be announcing some stretch goals soon. If you have any suggestions, hit us up on the comments section of our Kickstarter page, or talk to us directly on Twitch or Discord.

We are streaming daily at twitch.tv/legendsofcallasia at 10PM Eastern Standard Time (10AM Singapore time). The dev team is also online and available to chat atdiscord.me/legendsofcallasia.

Thank you as well for the press coverage we’ve been receiving: (If we missed any, let us know!)

Hope you’ll all continue sharing our Kickstarter project. Backing now means you’ll be getting the DLC (and the main game) at a discount!

Again, thank you very much!
-Legends of Callasia team

June 10, 2016 – Legends of Callasia, the fantasy-themed strategy game by top Southeast Asian game developer Boomzap Entertainment, begins its full release on Steam with a week-long sale event.
